EC1 like most companies understand that the environment plays a big part not only in our lives and future but also in our business. Because of this we have researched various ways to help our clients meet their ‘green targets’, be it government enforced or personal choice.

Printing is considered as perhaps one of the additions to a carbon footprint that can be easily reduced. We agree, but without printing our customers cannot always get their message across. This is why EC1 have researched the options.

In our opinion the chemicals and bleaches used, still make large volume recycled paper a poor option. We have therefore requested that our printers supply FSC paper or are FSC accredited. We can then advise our customers which print process is; more economical (using less materials), more environmentally friendly and/or easily recycled.

Over the past few years we have sourced acetate printers whose plastics are biodegradable, printers that use a waterless printing system and suppliers who print onto cardboard pens.  

As a small company our energy usage is 100% controllable and we are proud of the fact that our energy bills are not high enough for the government surcharge. We have an “overnight off policy”, where all hardware is turned off before we leave the office and our waste paper, plastics, board and even consumables are recycled using a collection service.
